J.J. Abrams teams up with Disney and Lucasfilm to Direct Star Wars VII!

It appears that  J.J. Abrams will direct the Star Wars sequel. Abrams is best known for his work on relaunching the 2009 “Star Trek” hit, and the much anticipated 2013 release of “Star Trek Into Darkness”. 

Although when previously asked about his connection to his film, he denied taking the role to stay loyal to Star Trek. But it appears that president of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy was able to recruit the Director for the film expected to release in 2015.

Abrams will be Directing the script penned by Michael Arndt, who is known for “Little Miss Sunshine”, “Toy Story 3” and the upcoming “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”.

And for those fans who just can not wait, the Star Wars in 3D theatrical release dates have been confirmed for 2013. Star Wars Episode II: The Attack of the Clones in 3D will open September 20th and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith in 3D will open October 4th 2013.
